How I Contour & Highlight + My Best Makeup Tips

Hey everyone! Yvette here with my highly requested highlight and contouring video. Since my first get ready with me video [from a year ago] I got tons of requests on how to highlight and contour. I truly appreciate your support and please keep the request coming. So sorry this is long over due but I just wanted to wait until I upgraded my video equipment. Hope you all don't mind and appreciate the high quality.

This technique is definitely inspired by Kim Kardashian's makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, who uses a damp sponge to blend and correcting powders like Ben Nye's Banana powder to conceal. Since he revealed his secret I feel like I have seen this type of contouring and highlighting every where. However, I do feel like Josh also known as petrilude was the first to say that these are drag queen secrets which they have been doing on the stage for years.

Throughout the video I inserted some of my favorite and best makeup tips on how to contour and highlight. I touch on correcting concealers but didn't want to go too in depth because I do have a video all about it which you can view here. I hope you all like it. Enjoy!

Graftobian HD palette
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge
Ben Nye Banana Powder
Morphe Flat Contour brush
Makeup Forever Sculpting Kit 2
MAC 116 brush
Makeup Geek Infatuation blush
MAC Cheeky Bronze Mineralize Skinfinish

My BEST MAKEUP TIPS for contouring, highlighting, foundation & blush
#1 Highlighting and contouring shades close to your skin tone give a more natural effect
#2 When picking a foundation shade, choose one that matches the undertones of your chest
#3 Having a light right above helps reveal your natural shadows. Helping mark out where to contour
#4 When using your sponge use one side for your light shades & the other side for your dark
#5 Correcting powders are not universal, when picking one keep your skint one in mind
#6 Keep in mind the grayish cast that natural shadows have when picking a contour powder
#7 For a more natural glow a pearly shade for fair skin works well. Warm golds compliment those with deeper complexions

Get Ready With Me ❤ A Night Out

Hey everyone! Yvette here with a fun glittery purple smokey look for a night out. If you saw my HUGE PHAMExpo haul you know I bought a bunch of fun new makeup here. I am super excited to start using them in tutorials like this boss ass glitter, which stole the show. I have heard great things about Violet Voss glitters so when I was getting ready the other night I had to reach for "The Fair" glitter. This glitter has so many different sparkles and lasted all night. I definitely had to wait for it to dry because it began to crease when I was doing the rest of my eyes. So that would probably be my only tip. Since the eyes were such a statement on their own, I had to top off this look with a mauve/nude lip. I hope you all like it. Enjoy!

Sin City A Dame To Kill For Gail | Grayscale Makeup

Hey everyone! I'm back! I took a small break from filming to get better from some whiplash I was going through. I'm all better now and I wanted to say thank you to everyone that sent me get well comments and messages!
Let's get onto the video! This look is inspired by Rosario Dawson's character Gail in the movie Sin City A Dame to Kill For. I took inspiration from her eye makeup in her character poster and the rest is inspired by how she looks in the film. She was completely black and white and had no other colors showing through. Sorry I didn't spray paint my hair black but I recently dyed my hair purple and I was afraid to stain it hehe. This look is a very easy way to make yourself look black and white without using hard to find products. Of course if you were to wear this out you would have to paint your hands and any other skin showing. I hope you guys enjoyed and I can't wait to film more videos!

Back to School | College Essentials {Dorm/1st Apartment}

Hey everyone! Yvette here with another back to school video. My first video was all about fashion which you can view here. This video is all about essential things you are going to need for your dorm or first apartment. Although this isn't so much fashion or beauty related, I still wanted to make a video about dorm life. I know when I first moved away from home when I was 19 I forgot a lot of these things and bought them along the way plus much more. Now these are just suggestions, if you feel like this you don't need some of these items, don't purchase them. All these photos are from Target.com. I hope you all find this helpful. Enjoy!

 Top Ten Essentials
1. Storage. Most of the time our first apartments/dorms are small and might have a roommate. Since your space is limited you want to have tons of storage organizers. IKEA, Target and K-mart are great places to shop for budget friendly storage containers. Such as:
under the bed storage organizers, over the door shoe rack, bunk bed organizer (can use a car organizer and put it over your bunk bed)

2. Mini Fridge. Most dorms allow a small mini fridge and I've seen some great ones at Costco at an affordable price. Target has some too!

 3. Train case for your makeup. If you are a makeup enthusiast this is a must. Target and K-mart have very inexpensive caboodles and small train cases. If you're in a dorm, you'll probably be doing your makeup in the communal showers. So a small container for your makeup will be great to take back and forth to your room

4. Shower Caddy. You don't need this items so much if you're in your apartment. A caddy is more for students in the dorms because your bathroom isn't in your room. Its usually down the hall, and you want to take your towel, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, flip flops, toothbrush, toothpaste and what ever else you might need all in one bag/caddy.

5. Shower Flip Flops. If you are in the dorms, shower flip flops are super important. I cannot even begin to imagine all the bacteria that crawl around in the bathrooms. PLEASE, your poor feet will thank you ;)

 6. Desk Lamp. Most dorms and apartments have next to nothing and the lighting is always quite poor. So you don't strain your eyes, think about getting a nice lamp so you can do your homework.

7. Push Pins. This is more of a decor item. Most of the time the dorms have a cork board wall where you can post pictures, hang necklaces, dream catchers and/or notes. Also most apartments don't allow you to hang stuff, by using a push pin the hole is a lot smaller and easier to Spackle.

8. Alarm Clock. I know you're probably thinking I have my phone BUT think of your alarm clock as your back up. I remember there were days were I didn't hear my phone or I forgot to charge it and it shut off in the middle of the night. So you don't miss class think about getting an alarm clock/mp3 player.

 9. Hamper. My nine and ten are the most important! Whether you are in the dorms or in an apartment building you will need a hamper. Most of the time the laundry room is on the first floor, so you definitely want to buy one to help you take your clothes up and down the stairs.

10. Kit. I'm talking First Aid Kit, tool kit and/or sewing kit. You might think this is unnecessary but trust me it will come in handy. I don't know how many times I had a tear in my blouse, or needed a band aid. Also if you are buying furniture you will most likely need tools to put it together. The 99cent store has very inexpensive kits. Target and Kmart do too!

I hope you found this helpful!

❤Book of Life❤ La Muerte makeup tutorial

Hey everyone! Yvette here with a sugar skull makeup tutorial. Not just any sugar skull makeup tutorial a recreation of La Muerte from the movie The Book of Life. This movie is about Dia de los Muertos, a Mexican tradition where we celebrate life by remembering those who have passed. The overall theme is Dia de los Muertos, however the movie follows Manolo, a man who embarks on a journey that across three worlds where he must face his greatest fears. You can see the trailer here.

I'm super excited to recreate this look, I hope you all enjoy it! It literally took me 3 days to film and re-film and re-film, and edit. I did this look three times and thank Yeezus my third time was the charm! I told myself if I wasn't 100% satisfied I didn't want to upload it. Just for kicks I'll show you look 1 and look 2. You might see them and think they are fine, but I was just not happy. I guess you can say I'm a perfectionist but Ruby just calls me picky, hehe. Anyways, I'm really excited for the movie, the voice of La Muerte is played by Kate del Castillo. YES! La Reina del Sur, haha!

If you have been watching Ruby and I for a while you know were obsessed with Halloween, Dia de los Muertos and anything spooky! When I saw the trailer I instantly got excited for this movie. I heard there was a panel for the Book of Life at Comic Con San Diego and I'm super bummed I couldn;'t go this year. Another obsession of mine is Guillermo del Toro, who is producing this movie. He is Mr. Super Fucking Creepy Monster Man, I love him! From Hellboy, Pan's Labyrith, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Mama and Rise of the Guardians, just to name a few. AND HE'S MEXICAN, Viva la Raza! Okay that's enough rambling, enjoy the video! Bye.

La Muerte kind of reminds me of this drawing...
